Whittington Castle


Whittington Castle is owned and run by the local community and is situated about 5 miles from Ellesmere towards Oswestry. Set in about 12 acres of ground. originally a motte and bailey castle but was replaced in the 13th century by one with buildings and a courtyard.

Chirk Castle

Chirk Castle a 700 year old marcher fortress built in the late 13th century, a massive feature of the castle are its amazing gates which were included to the castle in 1719.

Shrewsbury Castle

Shrewsbury Castle built between 1066 and 1074 during the reign of William the Conqueror, The interior was remodelled in the late 18th century by Thomas Telford. Now the castle is being used as a regimental museum.
